2015 Carrie Headshot

With her provocative writing style, strong voice, and “I don’t just write about it; I live it”-style of journalism, Carrie Borzillo has earned her place as one of the leading pop culture and sex and relationship journalists today. She has released three books with major publishers, and racked up such awards as Music Journalist of the Year (NARIP), Best Magazine Feature (Western Publishing Association), and was named one of the most influential Californians in the music industry (BAM). Borzillo also appeared on Season 3 of “Ex-Wives of Rock” on Slice TV in 2015 alongside Bobby Brown, Sharise Neil, Athena Lee, and Blue Dixon.

Borzillo’s first book, Eyewitness Nirvana: The Day by Day Chronicle (Carlton Books), was an international success and released in four languages and seven formats since its initial release, including 2014’s Nirvana: In the Words of the People Who Were There. The writer put her rock and roll credibility to work on the rock chick guide to life, Cherry Bomb: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt, a Tougher Chick, and a Hotter Girlfriend, and to Living Life Like a Rock Star (Simon Spotlight Entertainment), which was followed by Tera Patrick’s Sinner Takes All: A Memoir of Love and Porn (Gotham/Penguin).

Some of the accolades for her books include: “Carrie has made her mark in lifestyle books. She puts a twist on life that is refreshing and new.” (Lumino magazine) “Writer Carrie Borzillo is an inspiration.” (PopDose) “Carrie is indeed an expert and an authority on how to be a chick who rocks…” (Hit Parader) “[Cherry Bomb] is funny, edgy, and witty.” (The Observer)

A bona fide rock chick from birth, Borzillo started her music journalism career at age 17 covering the local music scene in her home stage of Connecticut. She quickly graduated to the big leagues at age 21 where she became Billboard magazine’s youngest section editor in the publication’s 100-year history. She has written about music for Spin, RollingStone.com, and Alternative Press; and about celebrities and entertainment for People, E! Online, Entertainment Weekly, Us Weekly, Teen People, and more. She has also lent her content production skills to the digital teams of the hit TV shows, “American Idol” and “The X Factor.”

As a sexpert, Borzillo has penned sex advice columns for SuicideGirls.com, Gene Simmons’ Tongue magazine, and THC Expose magazine, and currently writes about sex and relationships for Men’s Health, DAME, Sexpert.com,  and others, and pens the “Sex and Sativa” column for MG Magazine. She has waxed poetic about sex and love on Dr. Drew’s syndicated radio show, “Loveline,” as well as on Playboy Radio, Vivid Radio, Maxim Radio, SiriusXM, and more.

“Carrie Borzillo dares to lay herself bare with her brave, personal, well-researched and resourceful essays about love and sex. She manages to do that rare thing: exorcising her demons while creating a deep connection with her readers,” says Kera Bolonik, executive editor of DAME magazine.

Carrie Borzillo hails from Wallingford, Connecticut and has a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. She currently resides in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock.
